Katie Bouton is an entrepreneur and author whose work addresses financial literacy and funding barriers for women entrepreneurs.
Katie Bouton is an entrepreneur, advisor, and author developing a book about the capital barriers facing women founders, particularly women of color. She started her executive search business in her bedroom in 2004 and, over 16 years of ownership, grew it to approximately $20 million in revenue, with 70 staff, 11 locations, and three acquisitions. Her experience building and selling a business informs her examination of how access to money, information, and professional networks shapes entrepreneurial opportunity. Bouton has also worked on business equity at the Boston Foundation and advises entrepreneurs on developing the relationships that can help their businesses move forward. A journalist by training, she is shaping an interview-driven narrative that connects founders’ experiences with the structural barriers behind funding disparities. Her focus is both practical and systemic: helping entrepreneurs understand their financials while challenging the assumption that a better pitch alone can overcome unequal access. Outside work, she enjoys reading and visiting new places. Find her on LinkedIn under Katie Bouton for more information.
