Mark Durante is the founder of Rize Up Medical and author of It Takes Heart, drawing on a medical sales career that began in 1998 and his experience as a heart transplant recipient. After living with mechanical heart support for ten months and receiving a transplant in 2016, he continued searching for help with debilitating neuropathy. That search shaped his commitment to patient advocacy, practitioner education, and exploring regenerative approaches alongside traditional care. Through Rize Up Medical, he works with practitioners to share research, education, and products that expand the tools available to them. His perspective is that of a medical industry entrepreneur and patient, not a physician: he understands both the constraints clinicians face and the uncertainty families carry through serious illness. His writing connects physical recovery with emotional resilience, faith, and the responsibility to turn hard-earned experience into service.
