Todd Nicely is a Marine veteran who served in Iraq and led a squad.

Todd Nicely is a Marine Corps veteran, author of Your Choices Change Lives: A Marine’s Journey of Rising from the Ashes, and a mentor who shares firsthand lessons in leadership, loss, and learning to accept help. As a squad leader in Afghanistan, he trained his Marines to understand the mission, trust one another, and carry on without him if necessary. On March 26, 2010, an IED blast left him a quadruple amputee, beginning a long process of physical rehabilitation and rebuilding his identity beyond military service. His account addresses not only adapting to prosthetics but also grief, depression, and the limits of trying to handle everything alone. Through mentoring at FOCUS, he shares those experiences with fellow veterans, emphasizing that asking for help is a form of strength. A husband and father, Nicely brings candid humor to family life and everyday problem-solving, and values the independence that driving gives him.
