Allie Brosh
Memoir & Personal Growth
Allie Brosh is an American blogger, writer, and comic artist whose autobiographical stories combine humor, personal reflection, and intentionally crude illustrations.
Biography
Alexandra Brosh, known as Allie Brosh, was born in 1985 and grew up in small towns across the United States. She attended the University of Montana and created Hyperbole and a Half in 2009. The blog and webcomic recounts experiences from her life through text and deliberately crude drawings. She has published two books in this style, both New York Times bestsellers.
Brosh lives with severe depression and ADHD, which have led her to step away from the internet, blogging, and public appearances for years at a time. Her comics about experiencing depression have received praise from mental health professionals, professors, and philanthropists. Her autobiographical writing also explores childhood, animals, grief, loneliness, and the absurdities of modern life.
