Health & Medicine
Barbara O'Neill is an Australian alternative health-care promoter known for promoting unsupported, potentially dangerous practices and lacking recognised qualifications.
Biography
Barbara O'Neill is an Australian alternative health-care promoter who has presented her claims at alternative medicine organisations, wellness retreats, and Seventh-day Adventist Churches. Sources state she does not have recognised qualifications and did not complete nursing training. She is married to Michael O'Neill, founder of the Informed Medical Options Party, now the Health, Environment, Accountability, Rights, Transparency (HEART) Party, which is described as an anti-vaccination and anti-fluoride political group.
In 2019 the New South Wales Health Care Complaints Commission ruled that she is prohibited from providing any health-related services following complaints and an investigation. The Commission found she provided dangerous advice to vulnerable people, including advising some cancer patients to forgo prescribed chemotherapy in favour of bicarbonate of soda and recommending unpasteurised goat's milk for infants, and determined she failed to meet expected standards for unregistered health professionals.
