Biography
Cory Efram Doctorow, born on 17 July 1971, is a Canadian-British blogger, journalist and science fiction author. He served as co-editor of Boing Boing. His work addresses digital rights management, file sharing and post-scarcity economics. He advocates liberalising copyright laws and supports Creative Commons, using some of its licences for his books.
As a technology critic, Doctorow uses the term “enshittification” to describe how online platforms deteriorate as their owners extract value from users and business customers. In his book of that name, he examines platform monopolies and argues for reducing corporate power, enabling effective regulation and privacy protections, and supporting technology workers through unions.

Enshittification
Enshittification describes how online platforms attract users, monetise their activity and then degrade their services while transferring value to executives and shareholders. It argues for breaking up online monopolies, curbing corporate power and supporting technology unions as responses to this deterioration.
