Biography
David Downing (born 1946) is a British author of mystery novels and nonfiction. His work has been reviewed by Publishers Weekly, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. He is known for his convincing depictions of World War II and of Berlin.
He wrote a series of espionage thrillers built around the Anglo‑American character John Russell, who explores Germany in the 1940s. Those books are commonly called The Station Series because each title is named after a train station, mostly in Berlin.
