Biography
Jarrett J. Krosoczka was born December 22, 1977, in Worcester, Massachusetts. He is an American author and illustrator of several graphic novels and picture books, most famously the Lunch Lady series and the graphic memoir Hey, Kiddo.
Hey, Kiddo recounts his childhood growing up with a mother who struggled with addiction and an absent father. Raised by his grandparents, Krosoczka learned to express himself through drawing while trying to make his non‑normal life appear normal. Only as a teenager did he begin to piece together his family's truth, reckon with his mother, and track down his father, and the memoir focuses on growing up in a family grappling with addiction and on finding the art that helped him survive.
