The ascent of money
The Ascent of Money traces the evolution of finance from ancient Mesopotamia to modern financial upheavals, explaining the origins of money, banks, bonds and other financial institutions. Ferguson argues that finance underpins human progress and uses financial history to reinterpret events including the Renaissance, the rise of the Dutch republic and the French Revolution.
