Dr. Bayo

Physician and Advocate.

Dr. Bayo Curry-Winchell, MD, MS, known as Dr. Bayo, is a practicing physician, medical director, and health equity advocate whose work centers on helping women speak up and navigate healthcare with confidence. With nearly two decades in healthcare, she combines daily patient care in urgent care settings with education about patient rights, clear communication, and the racial and gender biases that can shape treatment. She is the founder of Beyond Clinical Walls, whose podcast explores how patients can advocate for themselves in an ever-changing healthcare system. Her writing for Katie Couric Media and SheKnows addresses women’s health, health equity, and practical health concerns. As a mother who survived a life-threatening childbirth complication after having her symptoms dismissed, she brings personal urgency to her advocacy. Her experience as both physician and patient informs her approach: prepare for appointments, ask clarifying questions, build a trusted care team, and seek another opinion when needed.
