Dustin Sellers

Search fund investor writing on searcher readiness, leadership resilience and coachability.

Dustin Sellers is a search fund investor, former searcher, and business operator whose work focuses on the personal attributes behind successful entrepreneurship through acquisition. He brings the perspective of someone who has searched for a business, acquired and operated it, and subsequently backed other entrepreneurs navigating the same path. His search led to the acquisition of ProService Hawaii, a professional-employer organization where he helped tackle operational crises and build sales and marketing capabilities. Those experiences inform his emphasis on resilience, emotional intelligence, coachability, and the ability to distinguish grounded confidence from self-deception. In his manuscript, So You Want to Search? A Guide to Understanding the DNA of Top-Performing Searchers, Sellers challenges ambitious professionals to assess not only whether they can buy a company, but whether they are equipped to lead it. Raised in Hawaii with parents who ran an advertising agency, he encountered the pressures of small-business ownership early. He met his future business partner, Ben Godson, on a fishing trip.
